"I'm a phd student, studying in london and i live in east finchley and use the library roughly on each day that it's open. i did want to say that having the local library where i can study and do research is vital for a student of any age at any level and without exception - i think maintaining a free & sufficiently well-kept facility where students + individuals studying for professional qualifications can study within their community should be part of the most basic mandate of any council - not least as it is serves to give members a studious environment where they can also organise, exchange ideas, become more skilled & more connected with other members of their community..." - D.H. "Good luck with your campaign, EF library was my childhood library and led me to pursue librarianship as a career."- E. Crook
"...Grew up in and around this library. Spent hours there with my mum as a child, and enjoying passing on the same love to my little ones! This is more than a library, it's the heart of our community and it's worth saving." - M. Palameta
"I arrived in East Finchley from Australia in the middle of winter 5 years ago. I had 2 children under 3 years old, no friends in the area and no knowledge of the local groups I could access. The library was a haven...My kids played and explored the books in a safe, warm (!) and friendly environment. While I sought solace in the books and the people I met...the first friend I made is now one of the dearest people in my life and her children are best mates with mine...without the library I would have felt very lonely and isolated." - A. Millen
"East Finchley is not my local library but I totally support your campaign. The decimation of Barnet libraries is a massive issue, the suppression of civilized society, ideological, savings are a nonsense, a drop in the ocean of Barnet's overall budget when just for starters, over £30m has been spent last year and this on consultants' fees. I believe that libraries are one of the last vestiges of community, for all ages, faiths, races, genders, abled and disabled - they exist for everyone." - D. K.
"When I was 14/15 I absolutely hated school and would bunk off any chance I got. If it was too cold to hang out at Ally Pally my next choice was East Finchley Library, so I at least got some studying done. Do I get a detention now?" - M. Barry
"...My children's only place is East Finchley Library to go and get books that thay like same as hundreds of others. So, I believe that together we can save our most loved library." - B. Chowdhury
